The Lower White Watershed lies entirely in southwest Indiana, where is drains about 1.07 million acres. It drains most of Greene County, large portions of Daviess County, Knox County, Monroe County, and Owen County, and smaller portions of at least five other counties. The East Fork of the White River is a major tributary that joins the White River a few miles northeast of Petersburg. Other notable watercourses that join the White River in this part of its watershed include the southern Eel River (Indiana has at least two rivers by that name), Beanblossom Creek, and Prairie Creek.

The Lower White River flows into the Wabash River, which subsequently merges with the Ohio River. The Ohio River joins the Mississippi River, which empties into the Gulf of Mexico.
The United States Geological Survey has assigned the Lower White Watershed an 8-Digit Hydrologic Unit Code of 05120202.
