Toadshade; also Sessile Trillium
Toadshade is more properly known as Sessile Trillium, but I prefer and use Toadshade because it's such a great name. One of the meanings of the term sessile is "growing directly from a base without a stalk or stem" and that characteristic is visible in the photo above. Frequently found in the same rich woods that host Prairie Trillium, though generally shorter.
