The Indy Star reports that Carpenter Nature Preserve in Zionsville is slated to open later this month. The Zionsville Parks website has a small note saying that the estimated opening of "Phase I" will be around 21 May. The 215 acre property was once a golf course.

93 acre expansion of Lydick Bog Nature Preserve. The Shirley Heinze Land Trust property is in Saint Joseph County.

The Indiana Natural Resources Commission approved the dedication of a new State Dedicated Nature Preserve in Owen County. Barnebey Woods Nature Preserve is owned and managed by the Sycamore Land Trust, and comprises more than 140 acres of mature upland forest. The property is not currently open to the public.

The Indiana Natural Resources Commission approved adding the 25-acre Sundew Prairie to the existing Hoosier Prairie Nature Preserve.

Cincinnati Public Radio reports that southeastern Indiana's Oak Heritage Conservancy will be absorbed into southwest Ohio's Cardinal Land Conservancy. The merger is expected to take place over the next couple of months and will transfer Oak Heritage's sixteen preserves and three conservation easements, comprising more than 1,300 acres, into Cardinal's portfolio.
