The Glaciated Wabash Lowlands ecoregion consisted mostly of beech forest and oak-hickory forest, though relict sand dunes (a mound of sand left for a time during the washing away of a beach) sometimes supported prairies. Many streams have gravel bottoms, riffles, and associated fauna. Source: US EPA
